Q & A with co-owner Trevor Phillips and manager Veronica Arnold at Park Plaza Liquor & Deli at 402 W. Goodwin St. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. 541-9894.
How many employees do you have?
Trevor: "We have 10 employees."
When did you open the store and how did you get into this business?
Trevor: "We opened July 2007."
Veronica: We both moved away from college and wine bars are especially hot right now. We just wanted to bring something to Prescott that was missing."
Trevor: "We just wanted to offer a little different retail wine and beer experience that you can't find in a supermarket environment."
What service do you provide in the community?
Trevor: "We offer a full-service deli including bagels made daily, wood-fired pizza, sandwiches, salads and desserts. All of our bread is made fresh daily."
How many varieties of beer and wine do you sell?
Trevor: "We sell over 800 varieties of wine and 400 beers. People can enjoy them here with their meal or at home."
How do you stand out from other liquor stores?
Veronica: "We just try to strive to be different and we're big on special beverage orders."
Trevor: "We also offer our customers the choice to mix and match six packs of beers with a discount."
What is your key to business success?
Trevor: "Building relationships with our customers and we have an emphasis on customer service with a knowledgeable staff."
Veronica; "We're very competitively priced."
What is your biggest business challenge?
Trevor: "Getting people to understand that we know our products."
Do you work with local charities?
Veronica: "This weekend, we are participating in the chili cook off at Peddler's Pass benefiting the Bradshaw Mountain Kiwanis Club.
"We also take part in the Taste of Prescott and we always donate to the Prescott Fine Arts Association's Charter Auxiliary silent auction."
