Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is forming the initial Mountain Institute Joint Technological Education District Governing Board.
Voters in the Ash Fork, Bagdad, Chino Valley, Humboldt, Mayer, Prescott and Prescott Valley approved the formation of JTED during the Nov. 4 General Election.
In compliance with the plan voters approved, the seven individual district governing boards will work in conjunction with Carter to appoint the initial governing board.
Each district governing board will select one qualified resident of its district to serve a two-year term on the Mountain Institute Governing Board, commencing with the Oath of Office, probably by mid-February 2009 and ending on Dec. 31, 2010.
Anyone interested in filling the vacancy representing their specific school district should send a letter of interest and a resume to Tim Carter, Yavapai County School Superintendent, Yavapai County Education Service Agency, 1015 Fair Street, Prescott, Ariz. 86305-1852, FAX 928-771-3325 or email email@example.com.
Applicants should include information about themselves, why they want to serve on the board, their residence and mailing address, and home/work phone numbers. Candidates may include letters of recommendation or support.
The deadline for receipt of letters of interest is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19.
School districts will interview their candidates according to the following schedule:
Bagdad school district - Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
Seligman school district - Monday, Jan. 5, 2009.
Mayer school district - Friday Jan. 9, 2009.
Ash Fork school district - Monday, Jan. 12, 2009.
Humboldt school district - Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 13 and 15, 2009.
Chino Valley school district - Thursday and Friday, Jan. 22 and 23, 2009.
Prescott school district - Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 26 and 27, 2009.
