Nestle recalling certain Lean Cuisine frozen meals
Nestle Prepared Foods Co. is recalling about 879,565 pounds of frozen chicken meals distributed nationwide that may contain small pieces of hard plastic, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
So far, the plastic contamination has injured at least one person, according to the company.
The company is recalling 9.5-ounce packages of frozen Lean Cuisine Pesto Chicken with Bow Tie Pasta, 10.5-ounce packages of frozen Lean Cuisine Chicken Mediterranean and 12.5-ounce packages of frozen Lean Cuisine Chicken Tuscan.
Each package bears the establishment number "EST P-018" in addition to other numbers and dates available on the agriculture department's website at www.fsis.usda.gov/News_&_Events/Recall_043_2008_Release/index.asp.
The agriculture department has labeled the recall a Class 1 health hazard, which means there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
