Obituary: Evelyn B. McGregor

Evelyn B. McGregor died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Olivia White Hospice Home in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Her journey began Dec. 29, 1908, in Middletown, N.Y. The youngest of four, she was born to Antonio and Serefina Curti Blasioli.

After graduating high school, she pursued a career in nursing and received her RN in 1932. She began her career at St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where she worked until 1936. She then moved out west to work in the public Health Hospital in Fort Defiance, Ariz. She dedicated her life to caring for others and remained a nurse at heart until her passing.

She was married to Samuel P. McGregor in 1938 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in St. Michaels, Ariz. Together they welcomed three children. They moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1973, where they spent the next 34 years. She moved to Flagstaff in 2007 to enjoy more time with her family. She spent her remaining year and a half enjoying her great grandchildren and her newfound friends at The Peaks.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Samuel P. McGregor. She is survived by her three children, Anthony McGregor (Mildred), Louise McGregor and Edith Lorton (Ken); six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service in honor or her life will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Olivia White Hospice Home; the residents, caregivers and staff at The Peaks; close friends and the Catholic community.
