Infant who took methadone is doing well

Prescott Police continue to investigate how a three and a half week old baby girl ingested a dose of methadone while under the care of her mother and grandmother on May 14.

"The baby is still under the care of Child Protective Services but is spending time with mom on a part-time basis," said Lt. Ken Morley, Prescott Police Department. "The baby is responding normally brain-wise."

Morley said that the mother's two other children appear to be in good condition.

The grandmother had methadone at the apartment when the baby became unresponsive. Police still do not know how methadone got into the newborn's system.
