Every day is Mother's Day
A beautifully hand drawn picture, a Mickey Mouse card, which was purposely picked for me because "Mickey is so nice" and the biggest hug known to man were the start of MY DAY.
My (almost) 6-year-old was so excited that it was Mother's Day he told Dad in no certain terms that "Mom can do whatever she wants today"! Although a short time later he looked up at me and asked "if everyday is kid's day does that include today too?" (yes yes, I know, I told him what?!)
The topper to this cake though is when at the family dinner, with a big wide grin, he raised his hand to tell everyone that because Mother's Day is so special everyday is Mother's Day. Ah, the joys of motherhood.
After his little announcement though I started to think about what he said and realized that for me every day really is Mother's Day. I am not Mom just one day out of the year; this is who I am, I am Mom.
Now I am not saying I don't do anything for me/myself and I because I do and it's great that my son gets to see that part of me no matter how small. But in retrospect honestly all my decisions and actions include thoughts of how it will affect him.
All of my deepest fears and insecurities seem to stare me right in the face. At the same time I have realized I am human and make mistakes and actually that it is good for him to see. So when I look into his beautiful face and can't begin to measure how much I love this little person, I say, yes, every day really is Mother's Day and though there are ups and downs I wouldn't have it any other way.
My name is Jo and I am one of the "Four Moms." I am looking forward to sharing stories and experiences with you moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas and anyone who just loves kids! I am excited to hear from you as we venture on this journey of raising our kids.
