Although Acorn Montessori Charter School has always celebrated Cinco de Mayo, this year brought folklorico dancers, piñatas and crafts for students to enjoy.

On Monday, Las Mariposas performed dances from three areas of Mexico, complete with three costume changes. The group of young 9 and 10 year olds danced to the music of Jalisco, Vera Cruz and the Yucaton for students.

Another group of eight 5 and 6 year olds from the school also performed several Mexican Folk dances. After the performances, the students rotated to three stations where they participated in cracking open a colorful piñata, created a flag of Mexico, and enjoyed traditional food of Mexico.
