Chino man faces multiple charges in alleged sexual assault
A Chino Valley man faces sexual assault, kidnapping and aggravated assault charges after Chino Valley police arrested him March 7 and took him to the county jail in Prescott.
Police arrested Richard Wayne Curtis Sr., 47, who is a level-2 sex offender, for allegedly sexually assaulting and physically assaulting a woman between the evening of March 5 and the morning of March 6.
Curtis was a registered sex offender living in Chino Valley until be absconded in October 2007 and had failure to register charges pending at the time of this arrest. In October, Curtis failed to notify the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office that he had moved from Chino Valley. Police learned he had been living in Texas, Florida and Louisiana between October 2007 and February 2008, and Curtis could face federal charges through the U.S. Marshal's Office.
In other police news, Patricia Ryan, 64, returned her grandson, Ceth Ryan, 16 months old, unharmed after a 19-hour hunt for the baby by Chino Valley police March 14-15 when the woman abducted the baby. She faces a custodial interference charge and police took her to jail Saturday. The search involved five other law enforcement agencies.
