Letter: Irresponsible drivers risked patient's life
Turn down your car radios, turn up your hearing aids and pay attention when you are driving!
On March 7 at 12:40 p.m. as I drove toward downtown, an ambulance left the fire station on Lee Boulevard sirens blaring and lights flashing.
When I returned to my traffic lane and approached Prescott Lakes Parkway, the shocking sight before me was a parade of vehicles turning left from Highway 69 onto Prescott Lakes Parkway directly in front of the ambulance!
A minute later, as I continued west on Highway 69, another group of vehicles turned left from Highway 69 into Lowe's directly in front of the ambulance!
What happened to the rules of the road in yielding for emergency vehicles? What has become of the rule about paying attention to the business at hand? If you're going to drive, you need to be responsible!
The patient who needed help Friday afternoon waited longer than necessary for the ambulance to arrive with medical help. I hope he or she did not have a life-threatening problem.
