Editorial: Rodeo time is time for us to shine

It's showtime! The World's Oldest Rodeo starts today and runs through next Sunday.

This is the time of the year when Prescott really gets to shine and show its personality.

This will be the 121st annual presentation of the rodeo, which is far from being one of the biggest in the country but certainly one of the best and among the top 40.

Rodeo Week has something for everyone. Consider:

• Some of the world's best cowboys, including Prescott's own Rick Keickhefer a tie-down national finalist, and five-time all-around world champion Trevor Brazile and many others in six performances of the rodeo through the week.

• Dances July 3, 4 and 5 at the M&I Bank parking lot.

• Fourth of July activities at the Sharlot Hall Museum and fireworks at Pioneer Park.

• A 10K run and two-mile fun run honoring the late Gheral Brownlow,

• The Annual Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo Parade at 9 a.m. Saturday and the Whiskey Row Boot Race.

If none of those fit your pistol, the rodeo also features specialty acts and plenty of food and entertainment.

Come out! Enjoy!
