Emily Ingham Sandstrom, born June 19, 1934, in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away July 10, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. Emily was preceded in death by her oldest son Kenneth Miles, and is survived by her beloved husband Paul of Prescott, Ariz.; daughter Dayna Tutino; two grandsons, Jared and Brian Cahn of Dublin, Calif.; a sister Trudy Dunlap of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a brother William Ingham of Palm Springs, Calif.

Emily attended Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., and is a graduate of the University of California, at Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Emily was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. In 1977, she graduated from the Pasadena City College Nursing Program.

Emily fought a long battle with cancer, which necessitated her retiring as an RN from the VA hospital in Prescott, 2002.

While living in California, Emily worked many years with the homeless and drug-addicted population, and was the executive director of the Pasadena Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency for eight years before moving to Prescott.

She has been astute in her local church, 1st Congregational, UCC, in downtown Prescott, as a volunteer working with the homeless and served two years as chairperson of the Women's Fellowship's annual fundraiser, "The Country Store," which donates proceeds to local philanthropies. She also trained for the Hospice Volunteers Program at YRMC and volunteered in this program for several years.

Chaplain Elizabeth Harris, a longtime friend of the deceased, will conduct the memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 1st Congregational Church, 216 E. Gurley St., Prescott. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations go to the YRMC Hospice Program, 3262 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.
