Mrs. Mathews

Mrs. Ida Rose Mathews went to be with her Heavenly Father on Dec. 25, 2007, following a brief illness.

Ida graduated high school from Prescott, Ariz., in 1941. She married her husband, Norman F. Mathews, a native of Prescott, at the First Congregational Church in 1946. She returned to Prescott in 1975 where she resided until the time of her death.

Mrs. Mathews enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the outdoors and gardening. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church where she was actively involved with the women's fellowship. A woman who cares deeply about others, Ida worked as a volunteer at the Yavapai Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years. In addition, she donated her time and energy doing volunteer work for the Community Cupboard and the Veterans Hospital.

Mrs. Mathews is survived by her son, Gregory F. Mathews; her daughter, Jann L. Mauck and her husband, Bill Mauck; her grandson, Hunter Ontega Mathews; and her brother, Paul Rucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Nina Rucker; her husband of 60 years, Norman F. Mathews; and by brothers Claude, Edgar, Everette and Harold Rucker.

A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the First Congregational Church in Prescott.
