Accident kills one, hospitalizes a child, two others

A two-vehicle accident Sunday shut down Fain Road for about an hour, claimed one life and hospitalized three, including a 4-year-old child.

At around noon two vehicles collided on Fain Road, east of Robert Road, according to Jeff Polacek, Battalion Chief with Central Yavapai Fire District. CYFD, the Prescott Valley Police Department and the Department of Public Safety responded to the accident.

There were two people in each vehicle. One man died at the scene, two people - one of them a 4-year-old child - went by ambulance to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East in Prescott Valley, and one person went by helicopter to the Flagstaff Medical Center.

Police closed Fain Road for approximately one mile in either direction, from Highway 69 to 89A, for about an hour, Polacek said.

More details of the accident were unavailable at press time.
