Obituary: Catherine Jean Harrison

Mrs. Harrison

Mrs. Harrison

Catherine Jean Harrison was staying at the home of her son Richard Draeger in California when the Lord took her home on Feb. 22, 2008, after a two-month battle with lung cancer. She was 84 years old. Kate eagerly anticipated seeing her Creator and Savior. We are comforted knowing she is in heaven because of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Kate was born April 1, 1923, in Milwaukee, Wis. She was a talented Scottish Sword Dancer in her teenage and young adult years. Kate graduated from Carroll College in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Kate married Robert Harrison in 1968 and together they raised six children. They built a cabin in Lake Tahoe where the entire family enjoyed many weekends of hiking, fishing and exploring the Desolation Wilderness. Kate and her husband, Bob, moved to Prescott in 1978 when they retired. They enjoyed several years of RVing throughout the United States and Canada caravanning with her sister Ione Hankowitz and friend Helen. Kate worshipped at The Prescott Community Church. She served the Lord in leadership positions in women's ministries as well as the annual Peaches and Cream Outreach Ministry with her husband Bob Harrison, with whom she is now reunited in heaven. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Cheryl and Rick Dancey of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Patricia Toohey of Ingleside, Ill., Richard and Ruth Draeger of Nipomo, Calif., Cassie and Chuck Merritt of Chino Valley, Ariz., Jeff and Barbara Rowland of Brentwood, Calif., Ruth Ann Draeger of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Cynthia Eckendorf of Prescott, Ariz.; her 13 grandchildren; and her loving canine companion, Peaches.

A memorial service honoring Kate's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Creek Rd., Prescott, Ariz.
