Police arrest three in armed robbery at Kmart
PRESCOTT - Kevin King, 18, of Prescott, his 15-year-old brother and a 17-year-old Kmart clerk face charges of felony theft and armed robbery, police said.
King and his brother walked into the Kmart on Willow Creek Road at about 9:45 p.m. Monday and demanded money from the customer service clerk, Prescott Police Lt. Ken Morley said Tuesday morning. They also allegedly showed a gun and left with about $2,477.83, according to the police report.
Prescott Police officers interviewed the customer service clerk and other employees. When the customer service clerk told the store assistant manager that he gave two people money from the cash drawers, she told him to call 911.
Witnesses described the two robbers as wearing hooded sweaters pulled over their heads, leaving only their eyes visible. One witness said the description of one of the robbers matched the description of the customer service clerk's friend.
Police spoke with the customer service clerk and his story was inconsistent, according to police.
"He finally said that he was involved in the planning of the robbery," Morley said, adding that the clerk told police that the robbers were acquaintances and then gave them the brothers' contact information. Police interviewed the brothers and they admitted to their involvement in the robbery.
Officers arrested all three on charges of felony theft and armed robbery.
