Margaret Ann Luth Wood

Margaret passed away at age 84, at Meadow Park Care Center in Prescott, Ariz. on Dec. 15, 2008 at 1:05 a.m.

She is survived by her children, Susan Elaine Calhoon, David Allan Wood, Katherine Ann Wood Collins and William Kim Wood. Another child, baby Marie Wood, died at birth. She had eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Margaret was born Nov. 20, 1924 at Richfield, Utah to Ben Christian Luth and Ada Melvina Thurber. She was educated in Richfield and Cedar City, Utah schools.

She married Henry Alexander Wood on January 29, 1943 in the St. George LDS Temple in St. George, Utah. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2004.

In the early days of her marriage she worked writing a newspaper column for the "Escalante Days" newspaper, and also as a deputy sheriff for Iron County, Utah Sheriff, Otto Fife, helping him round-up cattle rustlers.

After moving to Chino Valley, Arizona Margaret worked as a medical transcriber at YRMC until she resigned to care for her ailing mother.

She and her husband established a beautiful garden made up of numerous trees, bushes and flowers. It was, and is, a delightful sight to behold.

Margaret had many, many interests, including piano playing, reading, gardening, and caring for pet animals. She was known for her ability to plant and grow successfully any plant.

Margaret's many friends will miss her beautiful gardens. Good-bye, Margaret!
