Prescott police nab convicted sex offender
After nearly two months of investigation and surveillance, Prescott police officers earlier this week arrested a convicted sex offender who was previously from Michigan.
Officers booked the suspect, Julius C. Rhymes, 23, and his wife Hillary M. Rhymes, 24, of Prescott into Yavapai County Jail on Wednesday.
Police arrested Julius Rhymes on charges of failing to register as a sex offender and various drug offenses.
Later on Wednesday, officers found Hillary Rhymes working at a care center in Prescott Valley. Officers arrested her on suspicion of hindering prosecution in reference to her husband needing to register as a sex offender, and drug offenses.
Police say they found a marijuana cigarette on Hillary Rhymes.
Officers say that Julius Rhymes did not register as a sex offender in Arizona, as state law requires. He was convicted in Michigan of sexual conduct with a victim less than 13 years old.
Prescott police officers and investigators served a search warrant on the Rhymes' home on Wednesday, where they arrested Julius Rhymes.
Officers say they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including items used to ingest methamphetamines, at the couple's residence.
