Highway construction focuses on waterlines, electrical lines
Highway 89 construction crews are working on the following projects this week in Chino Valley.
Existing waterline to be removed
Service connections to the new waterline are under way and crews will begin removing the existing waterline. Crews will dig small holes to access the waterline, cut it and remove it in sections, and haul and recycle the old materials. This week, crews are scheduled to work between Road 4 South and Road 2 South.
Excavation and concrete work continues
The widening of the roadway is beginning to take shape with concrete and curb work under way along the east side of Highway 89 and at Road 4 South. Crews will continue excavation in areas where curb has been poured in preparation for paving (to begin in 2009). This work is not expected to affect the movement of traffic.
APS relocations under way
APS relocations have started. Crews have dug holes in preparation to install new power poles along Highway 89. These holes have been covered with steel plates for safety purposes. Within the next few weeks, new poles will be arriving and will temporarily be stored within the ADOT right-of-way along Highway 89.
