Marianne Dissard returns for Raven appearance
Celebrate the holidays this weekend with some Parisian blues.
Tucson-based artist Marianne Dissard sings in French to tunes written by Joey Burns of Calexico and fellow French transplant Naim Amor.
Her album - also featuring Rob Burger (Tin Hat Trio, Laurie Anderson), John Convertino (Calexico) and Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson) - was described as "polished and thoughtful, French and sultry, smoky, beautiful and sad" by Tucson Weekly.
Dissard performs at The Raven Café Saturday night, Dec. 6, with collaborators Will Elliot, winner of Tucson Weekly's Critics Choice Award for Best Songwriter in 2006, and Andrew Goldberg.
This free show starts at 8 p.m.
