Dance studio students achieve honors

PRESCOTT - Two dance troupes affiliated with The Dance Studio in Prescott achieved honors during the summer, according to a press release from the school.

RhythMotion, a dance company consisting of youths ages 6 to 18, won numerous awards for solo, duo, trio and group numbers at the Kids Artistic Revue National Finals in Las Vegas. The company, which has about 30 members, earned an "elite to first" for a rendition of "Pirates," a theatrical production.

The company also earned the third- highest overall award in the production category for "Pirates."

"It was so exciting to win the honor because we are from such a small town, and even a small dance studio such as ours can make it to the top," dance captain Ronni Souers said.

Also at the competition, Ladies RhythMotion, which has a member in her 80s, brought home the second-highest overall honor in the teacher/adult category for its tap number "Choo Choo Cha Boogie."
