Unsung Hero of July: Monka Jean Swanson

On July 30, Supervisor Chip Davis was joined by Peggy Goode with Yavapai County's Public Works Department to present the 14th Unsung Hero Award to Monka Jean Swanson.

Ms. Swanson is a rare find. Every day for the past 10 years on her way to and from the post office, Ms. Swanson picks up the litter along Beaver Creek Road. Ms. Swanson says she has met a lot of people picking up the trash. They all feel like they know her because they see her along the road. Ms. Goode stated that without Ms. Swanson's efforts she doesn't believe that the Beaver Creek area would be the picturesque place it is today. That is why Ms. Swanson is our Unsung Hero for July.

Ms. Swanson received a certificate from Supervisor Davis and chose "Ghost Rider in the Sky" by Johnny Cash for her song.
