Cory Urquhart, assigned to the Sundogs by parent club Phoenix, has scored a goal in 16 straight games. The forward's importance to the team was huge down the stretch to clinch the Southwest Division and he came up just as big in the 4-2 series victory over New Mexico.

One of the great traditions in hockey is the recognition of the game's Three Stars. This postgame practice dates back to the 1936-37 season. At the time, "Hockey Night in Canada" corporate sponsor Imperial Oil tried to come up with a way to promote its "Three Star" brand of gasoline while recognizing the game's top players. Today, just about every level of hockey names the game's Three Stars. The Central Hockey League upholds this tradition.

A state review board is forcing the Arizona Department of Water Resources to conduct a public rulemaking process that could delay pending applications from Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley to import Big Chino groundwater to their Little Chino Sub-basin. It also could delay Scottsdale's application to use Harquahala Sub-basin groundwater.The process of drafting rules and seeking public comment could take four to five months, and pending applications to import groundwater from one basin to another are on hold until the rulemaking process is complete, ADWR official Doug Dunham said.ADWR still can work on technical aspects of the applications so the delay might not be substantial, Dunham said.

Adam Wood had a re-Union with Jason Visser when he joined the Arizona Sundogs in mid-February. Both played for Union College in New York. Well, Wood meant to play, but mostly he had to sit out after tearing an ACL in his first game. At the end of the season, doctors discovered he had a cracked elbow.
