One of the great traditions in hockey is the recognition of the game's Three Stars. This postgame practice dates back to the 1936-37 season. At the time, "Hockey Night in Canada" corporate sponsor Imperial Oil tried to come up with a way to promote its "Three Star" brand of gasoline while recognizing the game's top players. Today, just about every level of hockey names the game's Three Stars. The Central Hockey League upholds this tradition.

John C. Seiler Sr. died on April 5, 2008, in Prescott at age 90. He was born on Dec. 15, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., the son of John and Marie (Ziegler) Seiler. John graduated in 1935 from Henry Ford Trade School and in 1950 from the Detroit College of Law.

A state review board is forcing the Arizona Department of Water Resources to conduct a public rulemaking process that could delay pending applications from Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley to import Big Chino groundwater to their Little Chino Sub-basin. It also could delay Scottsdale's application to use Harquahala Sub-basin groundwater.The process of drafting rules and seeking public comment could take four to five months, and pending applications to import groundwater from one basin to another are on hold until the rulemaking process is complete, ADWR official Doug Dunham said.ADWR still can work on technical aspects of the applications so the delay might not be substantial, Dunham said.

This past week was a tough one for me. I had to say goodbye to an old friend - not old in years, because he was only 11. It was his time, as my friend was suffering from cancer and was in pain. My friend was a 300-plus pound Bengal tiger mix by the name of Samson. He was a resident of the Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary.

The other, who did the shooting, was lodged in the county jail. The man with the pistol bullet in his back is in much pain. Doctors will prospect for the bullet, today. There was only one pistol in evidence and that was owned by the man who did the shooting."

Adam Wood had a re-Union with Jason Visser when he joined the Arizona Sundogs in mid-February. Both played for Union College in New York. Well, Wood meant to play, but mostly he had to sit out after tearing an ACL in his first game. At the end of the season, doctors discovered he had a cracked elbow.

The bottom half of the Bradshaw Mountain softball lineup accounted for 6 of the team's runs in a 10-0 shutout of Page in Prescott Valley this past Friday. Bradshaw pitcher Shawn Haese struck out 6 in 6 innings of work and went 2-for-3 at the plate with a homerun and 2 RBIs.

Town officials hope to have a secondary access road to the Pronghorn Ranch Subdivision complete this summer. Thursday, the Town Council authorized staff to pay a deposit of about $110,000 to the state for right-of-entry across State Trust lands so the town can extend Antelope Meadows Drive.

What makes an official Town of Dewey-Humboldt advisory committee officially a town committee? The chairs of two advisory committees struggled to prove to new Town Manager William Emerson that previous town mayors appointed them to head up the Environmental Issues Advisory Committee and the Groundwater Resource Advisory Committee, and that per town resolution approved by council, these were official town committees and subject to Open Meeting Laws.
