Prescott Valley Kinetic Sculpture Race rides again
The third annual Prescott Valley Kinetic Sculpture Race (www.pvksr.org) will be off and running - or pedaling - the first day of the Prescott Valley 30th anniversary celebration scheduled for Sept. 13.
The first Kinetic Sculpture Race was originally run over 30 years ago in Eureka, Calif. (www.kinetickingdom.com), and still runs today. This year there will be the addition of a new prize category for entries constructed of recycled materials, in keeping with the theme of Good, Green Fun.
Two of the entries from 2007 (the towns' Purple People Eater - winner of Least Slow, and Northcentral University's Roadrunner - winner of Able Competitor) will be on display at the KPPV/KDDL (106.7/94.3) live remote on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lighting USA, 6711 E. 2nd St. in Prescott
Valley. Call 775-9889 for directions.
Anyone interested in participating in or volunteering for the Prescott Valley Kinetic Sculpture Race should contact Prescott Valley Arts and Culture Commissioner and Committee Chair Cynthia Jones at 772-4710 or firstname.lastname@example.org, or Patricia Chalcraft at the Town of Prescott Valley's Parks and Recreation Department at 759-3090.
