LAMB Chevrolet gives DARE students a day of fun at Freedom Station
At past DARE Day celebrations only a few students from each class participated in a fun day - usually at a Phoenix amusement park.
This year, Prescott Valley Police Det. Jennifer Miller arranged for all fifth grade students at Granville Elementary School to have a fun day at Freedom Station.
Amy Kidd, fifth grade teacher, said it turned out that the school's PTO lacked the funds to pay for the trip. She spoke to Ed Walsh, general manager of Lamb Chevrolet, and explained the situation.
"He graciously agreed to pay $600 for our three fifth-grade classes to attend. Ed understands and appreciates the anti-drug message that DARE presents, as well as the important goodwill relationship that it develops between young people and law enforcement," Kidd said.
Rhett Wagner, Lamb's general sales manager, presented a check to Det. Miller and the fifth grade teachers on March 7.
National DARE Day takes place April 29.
