Mr. Turner

Mr. Turner

James Russell Turner, 61, passed away on Aug. 25, 2007. He was born in Coral Gables, Fla., on Nov. 8, 1945. For years, Jimmy resided at the State Training School in Lander, Wyo., while the family lived in numerous locations. In 1972, he moved to Prescott, where his parents had retired. From that time on, Jimmy was lovingly cared for by the Hozhoni Foundation. For several years, Jimmy was employed by Yavapai Exceptional Industries, where he had a reputation as a hard worker and a mischief-maker!

Jim was a member of the Methodist Church whose congregation welcomed him with love.

Jimmy was renowned for his antics on the dance floor. He loved to dance even when confined to a wheelchair! His big heart and his infectious smile and laugh enriched the lives of those lucky enough to have known him.

Jim's father, Ralph Russell Turner, preceded him in death in 2004. He is survived by his mother, Jane M. Turner; sister Jo Whitehead; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Kaye Turner; niece Debra Garrett (Cliff); and his great-nephew and great-niece, Owen and Ava Garrett.

The family would like to thank the countless caretakers whose patience and love made Jim's life so happy over the years.

Services will be held at United Methodist Church on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Hozhoni Foundation at 371 Garden St., Suite H, Prescott, AZ 86305.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
