Two Flagstaff schools got pounded on Friday night by the two teams most hoping for a Grand Canyon Region title.
While Cottonwood Mingus was thrashing Sinagua 61-0, the Bradshaw Mountain Bears got past Flagstaff 35-24 at the NAU Skydome. The win extended the Bears' winning streak to four straight.
The Bradshaw offense was clicking on the dome turf, compiling 398 total yards including 257 rushing. The outburst, plus six sacks on defense, helped offset 12 team penalties on the Bears.
Mychael Eikenberry scored two touchdowns for Bradshaw Mountain.
The Bears (6-3, 3-0) remain tied atop the region with Mingus. If Bradshaw can get past next week's game at home with Sinagua unscathed, it could set up a showdown for the region title at Mingus in the final game of the regular season.
