John "Johnny" Jeffrey Hilsinger of Spring Valley, Ariz., born March 11, 1957, in Johnson City, N.Y., to George and Gloria Hilsinger, lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 20, 2007. He was 50 years old.
Johnny grew up in Phoenix, Ariz., with his sister Sally and brother Robert. He was married for a brief time and had two sons, Kody and Kyle. He married Cari Woods in 1992 and shortly after moved his wife and son Brian to the Mayer area, where his only daughter Brandi was born in 1996.
Johnny worked as a superintendent for the Local 408 Carpenters Union. He was also an EMT and for a brief time worked as a reserve firefighter for the Mayer Fire District. His free spirit took him from racing cars and motorcycles to bull riding to coaching his son's Little League games. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and he and his wife were avid hunters. His sense of humor and generous soul brightened the lives of everyone he knew. Johnny was a beautiful artist, a loving husband and the proud father of Kody, Kyle, Brian and Brandi. He will be greatly missed.
Johnny is survived by his wife Cari; son Brian; daughter Brandi of Spring Valley; his sons, Kody and Kyle; and daughter-in-law Shannon of Phoenix; his mother Gloria of Spring Valley; sister Sally; niece Kris; and nephew-in-law Toby of Phoenix; sister-in-law Teri; nieces Katherine and Shannon; and nephew TJ of Mayer. Johnny was preceded in death by his father George and brother Robert of Phoenix.
Private services with his wife and children will be at a later date. Advantage Funeral Home assisted the family with cremation arrangements.
