PRESCOTT - Prescott Police arrested a 45-yearold man on suspicion of three felony counts after a woman reported a possible sexual assault of her 4-year-old daughter.
Alton Dean Nash faces one count each of child molestation, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The mother of the child told the police that on May 19, she was visiting Nash with her daughter and a younger child at his home in the 700 block of South Granite Street.
She said that she had a severe headache and decided to nap with her 18-month-old child on a daybed in Nash's apartment. She napped for an hour and Nash was alone with the 4 year old.
When she woke up, Nash left the residence in a hurry. Her daughter subsequently shared information with her mother that was inappropriate for her age. When she checked the girl's genital areas, she noticed severe redness.
She told the police that she didn't report it before May 24 because she was afraid someone would take her children away.
She spoke to the girl's father and he encouraged her to call the police.
