(The following is a police brief from the Prescott Valley Police Department.)
On 06/17/07 at approximately 0237 hours a two vehicle serious injury collision occurred at the intersection of Hwy 69 and Prescott East Highway.
Preliminarily investigation indicates that an 18 wheel semi-tractor/trailer was traveling northbound on Prescott East Highway turning west (left) onto Highway 69. A 1991 Nissan 2 door was traveling east bound on Highway 69, did not stop for the red light at the intersection, and collided with the tractor/trailer.
Driver of the 2006 semi-truck: Joe Jacobsen of Chino Valley, age - 56, with no passengers
Driver of the 1991 Nissan: Jose Martin Davila Ayala of Prescott, age - 25
Front seat passenger: Ernesto Elis, Prescott Valley, age - 21
Rear seat passenger: Juvenile male, Prescott Valley, age - 15
Rear seat passenger: Jose Chagoha-Elis, Prescott Valley, age - 24
The driver of the semi truck was treated and released at the scene by emergency personnel. The driver of the Nissan was air evac'd to Flagstaff Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition. The front seat passenger of the Nissan was air evac'd to Phoenix where he was listed in stable condition.
Two passengers in the rear seat of the Nissan were treated on scene and released. The driver of the Nissan and the front passenger were not wearing seat belts. The rear seat passengers were wearing seatbelts.
Highway 69 was closed at that location for approximately 3.5 hours. The Prescott Valley Police Department accident call-out team is still investigating this collision.
