In this picture on the left, Robert Andrus of Chino Valley sits atop his overturned sailboat on Lynx Lake Thursday afternoon.
Andrus and a friend were thrown from the boat as it flipped in a gust of wind at about 12 p.m. The mast then got stuck in the mud.
Emergency personnel from the Prescott Fire and Central Yavapai Fire District, U.S. Forest Service employees and other boaters had to rope the top and the bottom of the boat and dragged it into the deeper water where they flipped the boat over. The process took about an hour-and-a-half.
They also helped getting both men to the shore.
Once ashore, Andrus said that in his 32 years of sailing, it was his first time being thrown from a boat.
