Child of the Week: July 27
Child of the Week is a regular feature in The Daily Courier in cooperation with Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, which provided the information about this week's "Little." BBBS presently has hundreds of children waiting for adults to step forward and be mentors. Nine-year-old Robert, pictured here, has been waiting more than a year for a Big Brother. When your older brother has a Big Brother it's hard to understand why you don't.
Robert, who is in the fourth grade, would like a Big Brother to take him fishing and go to see muscle cars and monster trucks. He loves animals, music and "anything outdoors." He had a great time at a Big Brothers Big Sisters' outing playing paintball and climbing the huge climbing wall. His favorite part of the event was riding down the "zip wire" from the top of the climbing wall to the ground.
His "Big" doesn't need to be climbing walls - but someone to watch him, help him know how special he is, and share in his excitement. Robert needs a "Big" who will fuel his desires for music, cars and the great outdoors.
Robert loves his two pet cats, and music and building things. Robert is courageous, smart, curious and creative, but he needs someone to share the traditions of life. Who taught you how to fish? Who will teach him to "change the oil" when the time comes? If not you, then who will help this child?
