Jon F. Christenson

Jon F. Christenson, 53, died Dec. 22, 2006, in Port Townsend, Wash., after a long battle with cancer.

Born Oct. 18, 1953, to Carl J. and Geraldine (Beleu) Christenson in Eugene, Ore., he was raised in Los Angeles, Calif., and earned a B. A. in English from Southern Oregon University.

In addition to spending many years on the West Coast, he lived in Mississippi, Norway, and Prescott, Ariz. Although he made his living primarily as a cook, he focused intensely and seriously on writing poetry. He also enjoyed photography, books, and music. He played bass and acoustic guitar and was a singer/songwriter.

He had many longtime friends who will miss his kindness, clear philosophy of life, and sense of humor.

Survivors include his mother, Geraldine, of Port Townsend; brother, Andrew of Prescott, Ariz.; sister, Jill of Brinnon, Wash.; and half-siblings Karen Swanberg of Camano Island, Wash., Kristin Hall of Central Point, Ore., and C. James Christenson of Fountain Valley, Calif.
