Police Report: Police conduct tobacco sale investigation

Prescott and Prescott Valley police departments and the Attorney General's Office conducted a four-city undercover investigation in the sale of tobacco products to underage juveniles on Dec. 15.

Juveniles and undercover officers try to buy cigarettes, cigars, or chewing tobacco at random businesses. If the officer found a business is selling tobacco products, he wrote a citation to the store clerk.

Officers in Camp Verde and Cottonwood conducted similar investigations.

In Prescott, officers found no violations at 21 businesses. On Dec. 9, 2006, 15 officers inspected 15 stores and issued six citations.

Prescott Valley police found one location in violation among 28 inspections. A clerk sold one pack of Marlboro cigarettes to the undercover juvenile.
