Melvena L. Buckley, age 82, died Dec. 15, 2007, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born July 7, 1925, in Windsor, Mo., to James and Lillie Collins Ball.

Melvena was married to Robert Devine who passed away in 1976. She met Kenneth A. Buckley in 1977 and they were married March 1, 1978, sharing 27 years of marriage together. She was his loving wife and companion until her death.

Melvena was a member of the Eastern Star in Glendale, Ariz., and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 9400 in Phoenix, Ariz. She enjoyed volunteering with the VFW Bingo at the Veteran's Hospital in Prescott

with her husband. With her loving personality and wonderful smile, Melvena was loved by all who met her.

She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth; two sisters, Ellen Buck and her husband, Carl of Odessa, Mo., and Mary Daniels and her husband Jim of Versailles, Mo.; and one brother, John Richardson and his wife, Margaret Ann, of Versailles, Mo. She is also survived by six nieces; two nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews; and her godchild, Kristina Buckley of Munich, Germany.

Melvena was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers.

A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service in honor of Melvena starting at 4 p.m.

Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2007 at Prescott National Cemetery.
