Police Report: Prescott Valley police receive two grants
The Prescott Valley Police Department recently received two grants totaling $41,500 from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
The department will use the first grant for $9,500 to raise awareness and increase enforcement efforts in the area of youth alcohol offenses.
The department will spend approximately one-third of the money on a local media campaign to raise awareness of underage drinking and impaired driving in the Prescott Valley area, and buy portable breath testing devices to help officers investigate underage alcohol offenses.
The department will use the remaining two-thirds - approximately $6,500 - to staff enforcement efforts directed at youth alcohol offenses, including traffic saturation patrols, underage party patrols and retail compliance checks.
PVPD will use the $32,000 from the second grant to enforce speed limits and seat belt compliance, and to participate in Northern Arizona DUI Task Force activities to find and arrest impaired drivers.
