Jury finds Prescott man guilty
A Yavapai County Superior Court jury found a Prescott man guilty of felony aggravated harassment Friday.
Officers arrested Duffy Kilrain, 50, in April for domestic violence against his wife. The officers said during a dispute, Kilrain cut his wife with shattered glass.
After a three-day trial, the jury deliberated several hours before returning its guilty verdict. The jury acquitted Kilrain on an additional charge of stalking.
Judge Thomas Lindberg will sentence Kilrain on Jan. 7, 2008. Because of his prior felony record, he faces between 4 and 7.5 years in prison.
"Domestic violence is a serious offense, often difficult to prosecute when victims recant due to fear of their abuser, financial dependency reasons, or other issues," said Sheila Polk, Yavapai County attorney. "I am very pleased with the perseverance of our prosecutor, deputy Jay Beckstead, in overcoming several hurdles to obtain this guilty conviction."
