BMHS student brings firecracker to school, may have thrown at teacher
PRESCOTT VALLEY - A freshman at Bradshaw Mountain High School East campus may have thrown a firecracker at a teacher Tuesday morning, said BMHS Principal Jim Souder.
"We don't know whether the firecracker was intended to be thrown at the teacher, or if it was just thrown to be silly," Souder said, adding the teacher may have just been nearby.
The incident happened on school grounds, outside, and before school began, he continued. The high school informed the Prescott Valley Police Department of the incident. Police said the official report may not be available until later this week.
"If that is indeed the case (that the student threw the firecracker at a teacher), we want to press charges," Souder said, explaining why he contacted law enforcement.
The school is continuing its investigation to determine what happened. Either way, Souder said the student bringing a firecracker to school campus in his or her backpack is "one of the major things."
No further information was available on this incident by press time, but more should be available at a later date.
