Richard Lee Jackson

Richard Lee Jackson, 77, was born in Joplin, Mo., on Feb. 2, 1930, and passed on Dec. 1, 2007, at the home he loved in Dewey, Ariz.

Richard moved with his parents and one older brother from Joplin to Phoenix when he was 1 year old. With the exception of four years of honorable service in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1952, Arizona became Richard's home with family and friends for life.

Richard married his sweetheart, Maxine May Martin in February 1953. He dedicated his life to his work of thirty years at Mountain Bell/U.S. West, and to his wife and family. Richard was contagious with enthusiasm planning and experiencing a broad range of adventures with friends and family that included playing and coaching softball, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, dancing with his wife and more. Richard had a gentle soul, wanting the best for others and always offering calmness and a great chuckle and smile.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; his two daughters and their families, Teri and her husband Bruce May and daughter, Alex; Renee' and Bruce Royer and their children, Robert and his daughter, Taylor, and Ali, Chasan and Kyle; Richard's sister, Alene and her family; and many wonderful and devoted extended family and friends.

A private memorial and celebration of life service is will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to your favorite charity, or as suggestions, the Wounded Warrior Project at www.soldierride.com or www.conservationfund.org (non-profit organizations).
