PRESCOTT - Yavapai County election precinct boundaries will not look the same March 1.

The Board of Supervisors Monday approved changes and the creation of eight new precincts.

Election Director Lynn Constabile said election officials review precinct boundaries every two years. She said officials look at precincts with more than 2,000 active, registered voters.

"What we really look at is the wait time at the polling place. We try to keep it less than an hour," Constabile said.

The supervisors approved the following changes: The realignment of the Lake Valley, Castle and Glassford precincts to create a new Granville precinct; Horseshoe precinct from the existing Pronghorn View precinct; Granite precinct from the existing Williamson Valley precinct; Diamond Valley precinct from existing Yavapai Hills precinct; Rose Lake precinct from existing Willow precinct; Piñon Oaks precinct from existing Sandretto precinct; Orchard precinct from existing Clarkdale precinct; and Spruce precinct from existing West Chino precinct.

Recorder Ana Wayman-Trujillo said the election officials would send registered voters in the new precincts new voter registration cards. She added that sample ballots also would include information about election precincts and polling places.
