Child of the Week is a regular feature in The Daily Courier in cooperation with Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, which provided the information about this week's "Little." BBBS presently has hundreds of children waiting for adults to step forward and be mentors.

Jose, pictured here, has been waiting for a Big Brother for more than 25 months.

A 13-year-old artist, he enjoys drawing Low Riders. His favorite cars at the moment are the Impala and the Nissan Altima, and he would like to learn about engines. He hasn't been to a monster truck show but thinks he would like it. In school, Jose has taken woodshop and especially liked welding.

He plays basketball and rides a bike, goes to movies when he can, and listens to various music styles, including Latin, hip hop and rap.

Jose has two retriever-mix dogs, likes the zoos in Prescott and Phoenix, and likes "big horses."

Living at home with him are his mom, his younger sister and younger brother. Because Jose feels he is supposed to be the man of the house, he very much hopes for a Big Brother who will appreciate him as he is, recognize his abilities as well as his hopes and dreams, and who will offer help in finding his way to a happy, successful adulthood. He needs a man to show him how a man should act, someone to look up to when everyone else looks to you.
