Safeway center on Willow Creek reopens

UPDATE: 1:30 p.m.

PRESCOTT - Safeway officials have re-opened their store on Willow Creek Road after the Prescott Police SWAT and a bomb-sniffing dog from Flagstaff cleared the scene.

Prescott Police shut down the shopping center that includes Safeway and Kmart this morning because of a bomb threat. Authorities did not find anything.

Before 8 a.m. today police ordered Safeway officials to lock their doors, and shortly thereafter they were able to evacuate the store, according to witnesses.

Police and fire units staged in the area for nearly six hours. They evacuated the remainder of the shopping center, which includes several small stores and a bank.

Watch and The Daily Courier for updates, including the number of threats and their alleged motivation.
