PRESCOTT VALLEY - An accident Sunday at Fain Road and Highway 69 resulted in one death and four people hospitalized.

At approximately 11:04 a.m. an Oldsmobile Bravada, traveling west on Highway 69, tried to turn onto Fain Road while traveling at a rate of high speed. Witnesses told the Daily Courier that the vehicle was going so fast that it went up onto its two left wheels during the turn.

According to Prescott Valley Police Department Sgt. Art Askew, the vehicle flipped onto its side and slid, and another vehicle traveling down Fain Road toward Highway 69 struck it. Askew said that the driver of the vehicle that flipped over was pronounced dead at the scene, and the four occupants of the other vehicle were transported to receive medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Askew said that police closed down Fain Road from Highway 69 to the Santa Fe Loop for approximately two hours. They did not close down traffic along Highway 69, as the accident occurred just off of the highway, on Fain Road.

Agencies responding to the scene included the Prescott Valley Police Department, the Arizona Department of Transportation, Central Yavapai Fire District, LifeLine Ambulance and Tri-City Towing.

Further details were unavailable at press time.
