Ms. Nixon

Our beloved Victoria Faye Nixon died Aug. 2, 2007, surrounded by her family.

Vickie fought courageously for 16 months in her attempt to overcome complications from heart surgery. Vickie was born to Bill and Marion Nixon on March 9, 1952, in Phoenix, residing in Tucson, Ariz., the past 25 years. A dedicated educator, Vickie taught at Roberts Elementary School for 22 years, influencing hundreds of young lives. She served as a valuable resource and mentor for other TUSD teachers. Vickie was a guiding light for her daughter Marion, a devoted friend and irreplaceable sister.

Vickie, known for her bright red hair, infectious smile and steely determination, loved Motown music, dancing, and sports, and was an outstanding high school basketball player. Vickie lived with her family in Prescott from 1963-69. She attended Flagstaff Coconino High School, and earned her teaching degree from Arizona State University. We will remember her by her adventurous spirit, devotion to her students, her daughter, family and friends. Medical staff praised Vickie's disposition and were astonished at her unflinching fighting spirit as she struggled

with her illness.

Vickie is survived by her daughter Marion (Fernando Garcia); granddaughter Precious; mother Marion; sisters, Leslie (Barry Kirschner), Lynne (Bill Bacon); brother John (Sue Nixon); nieces and nephews, Sara, Aggie, Jacob, Rachel and Keith; and numerous relatives and friends.
