Elvira (Vera) Florez Garcia

Elvira (Vera) Florez Garcia, a lifelong resident of Prescott, Ariz., born Aug. 16, 1918, went home to be with her Lord and passed quietly in her sleep on Oct. 9, 2006, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was raised in Prescott, Ariz., and married Carl AZ Garcia on Nov. 17, 1940. Carl preceded her in death in 2002.

Vera devoted her life to her family and friends, to whom she gave her unwavering and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed for her hospitality and loving ways. We will miss her sweetness, her smile, and gentle touch. She had a beautiful singing voice, joyous spirit, and loving heart. Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Carl, along with her mother, Inez Florez Perez; and brothers and sister, Manual Florez, Fred Perez, and Margie Duarte.

Vera is survived by her loving children, Charles Garcia (Patricia) of Phoenix, Yoli Bounds (Leo) of Prescott, and Valerie Stringer (Roy) of Prescott; her sister, Ruby Perez of Phoenix; and brother, Joseph Perez of Temecula, Calif.; her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, David Peterson, Charles Garcia Jr., Anthony Garcia, Roy Royce Stringer III, Raquel Stringer, and Toni Zuidema. Vera was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Gabriel Garcia and Rebekah and Mathew Zuidema.

There will be a graveside service for Vera at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.

Interment services are entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home.

James "Jim" William Knox

James "Jim" William Knox, age 42, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2006. He was born October 16, 1963, in Santa Monica, Calif., the son of John McCune and Barbara Marsh (Laist) Knox.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kim; mother, Barbara Knox; daughter, Torree Guerrero; sons, Jon Ty Knox and Vincente Guerrero; and sisters, Linda Glass and JoAnn Davey.

Jim worked as an Excavation Contractor in the construction business.

Commemoration services in honor of Jim will be on Friday, October 20, 2006, at 4 p.m. at the Heights Church, 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive in Prescott, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in memory of Jim be made to Pro Bull Riding Outreach, P.O. Box 619, Wickenburg, AZ 85358.

Taylor Lea Morrison

Taylor Lea Morrison, age 24, died October 16, 2006, in Spring Valley, Calif. She was born in San Diego, Calif., daughter of Richard B. and Linda (Faraz) Swalve.

Taylor lived in California for 16 months. She previously lived in Arizona for 13 years.

Taylor is survived by her husband, Ryan Morrison, Spring Valley, Calif.; father and mother, Richard B. and Linda K. Swalve, Dewey, Ariz.; daughter, Allura Morrison; son, Rebel Morrison; sister, Tundra Anderson; brother, Richard A. Swalve; grandparents, Richard L. and Sharon Swalve, Rose and David Connell and John and Carol Perez.

Commemoration Services in honor of Taylor will be Saturday, October 21, 2006, 11 a.m., at Bradshaw Mountain Christian Assembly, 10160 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz. A visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2006, between 6 and 8 p.m., at the Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Melvin Frankie Schwab, 98, of Chino Valley, born April 19, 1908, in Casey, Iowa, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, in Prescott.

Graveside services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Dorothy Harper, 86, born May 17, 1920, in Whiting, Ind., died Oct. 2, 2006 in Prescott.

A celebration of her life will occur at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the First Congregational Church, 216 W. Gurley St., Prescott.

Vivian Larson, 94, of Prescott, born June 1, 1912, in Omaha, Neb., died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott.

A celebration of Vivian's life will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton in Prescott.
