Justin Patrick Folsom

Justin Patrick Folsom died Monday, May 8, 2006, in a bicycle/car accident at the young age of twenty-five.

Justin was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, to James Blanton Folsom and Laura Anne Folsom. He spent his pre-school years in Prescott, moving with his family to Phoenix at age five. He attended Sunnyslope and Look-Out Mountain grade schools, Mountain Sky Junior High and Thunderbird High School.

Music and spirituality were Justin's passions. He sang with the Phoenix Boys' Choir, played piano and trombone, and during his teen years was involved in the jazz programs at Mountain Sky and Thunderbird. He was chosen to perform with the Arizona Young Sounds and was awarded a scholarship by Sedona Jazz-on-the-Rocks for a summer at the Berkeley School of Music at Boston.

Justin received a scholarship for Jazz Performance at Arizona State University where he studied Music and, more recently, Economics. He was completing his Economics degree at the time of his death.

His recent interests included "Young Life", serving the Lord through missionary service, travel and ministering to the homeless.

He also enjoyed outdoor sports such as baseball, rock-climbing and running.

Justin was known for his candor, his generosity, his creativity and his bravery. 

He is survived by his parents; brother Benjamin Tyler Folsom; grandparents, Gail Goodell Folsom, Leon and Betsy Ann Clark; aunts and uncles, Laurence Douglas Folsom, Cindy Clark, Lloyd Covault, Patty Clark, Bernie Kravitz, Jill and Richard Hale, Neil and Annie Goodell, and Rex and Joan Goodell. Justin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Douglas Laurence Folsom Jr., of Prescott, Arizona. Justin's enthusiasm and passion for God, people and life will never be forgotten by those of us left behind.

Services for Justin will be held at Moon Valley Bible Church, 16207 North Third Avenue in Phoenix, Ariz. 85023, on May 13, 2006, at 11 a.m., with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Phoenix Rescue Mission in Justin's honor.

Frank W. Staskon, Jr.

A celebration of life service for Frank W. Staskon, Jr., 55, of Cache, Okla., will at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Church of Spiritual Living, Prescott, Arizona.

Mr. Staskon died on February 22, 2006, in Lawton, Okla.

Frank owned and operated the Dinner Bell Café for 18 years in Prescott.

Survivors include his wife Nancy B. Stanton; his parents Frank and Natalie Staskon; his daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Matt Buta; and his daughter Katie Staskon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Staskon, Jr., Scholarship Fund at Soltura, 4302 Ironton, Lubbock, Texas 79407.

Thomas "Tom" Petty

Thomas "Tom" Petty, 71, passed away on May 9, 2006, at the Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott. Tom was born Oct. 14, 1934, in Denver, Colo., to Thomas C. and Margie Curtis Petty. Tom worked on several ranches: Spider Ranch, Cowden Ranch, Thompson Ranch, Long Meadow, Las Vegas Ranch, 7V Ranch and Q's in Young, Ariz. Tom broke horses for Qurrico Rezzonic, and then became a union laborer, worked his way to the Carpenters Union in Prescott, working for Eckel & Allison Construction Company. Tom retired from the Carpenters Union and went into business for himself. Tom was known for his leather and rawhide braiding, headstalls, and bosalls. He was the President of the Williamson Valley School Board for many years. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, TJ Petty.

Tom is survived by his wife Frances Petty; sons Tom (Denna) Petty of Chino Valley, Joe (Toni) Petty, and Dwayne Petty, all of Prescott; and daughter Anita Petty and son-in-law Tim Ott of Los Alamos, N.M.; and his brother Donny (Glenda) Petty of Prinville, Oregon.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carlton streets in Prescott.

Raymond D. Skipper 'Skip' Jr.

Raymond D. Skipper 'Skip' Jr., age 61, passed away May 10, 2006, at his home in Snowflake after battling with cancer. 

Skip was born Sept. 28, 1944, in Flint, Michigan.  He moved to Mesa with his family in 1959 and graduated from Mesa High in 1962.  He attended Mesa Community College and graduated from the University of Phoenix in 1983.  He retired from Mesa Fire Department in 1991 after 21 years of service.  He was then Fire Chief in Chino Valley from 1991 to 2000.  He retired, and he and his wife Cheryl moved to Snowflake.  They served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tallahassee, Florida.  He enjoyed hunting on horseback, fishing, golfing and quad riding.

Skip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Hoopes Denham Skipper; his children, Kim Skipper of Boston, Craig (Robyn) of Queen Creek and Troy (Kelly), Sterling (Christy), Scott (Brandi) and Blake (Faith), all of Prescott Valley; 20 grandchildren; his mother Wanda Skipper and sister Mary Redondo, both of Mesa.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snowflake Main Street Chapel.  There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake.

Macy Jordan Thomas, infant, of Prescott, born May 3, 2006, died May 3, 2006, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.

Ernest "Ernie" A. Landry, 73, of Prescott, born April 23, 1933, in Gardner, Mass., died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, in Prescott.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott Valley. Commemoration services in honor of Ernie will follow at 1 p.m. at the same location. Military honors provided by American Legion Post #6.
