Rollover sends manto Phoenix hospital
A 32-year-old man was air lifted Sunday morning to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix following a single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 69 in Mayer. Two 16-year-old passengers were transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC).
Mayer Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike McGhee said the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office was in pursuit of the vehicle when the driver lost control at about highway marker 268 and rolled the vehicle.
McGhee said the driver was thrown about 100 feet from the vehicle and suffered head, chest and leg injuries, "as well as a severe case of road rash." The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
McGhee said the passengers appeared to be wearing their seatbelts. The teenagers, a boy and a girl, were transported to YRMC by ground ambulance.
"Speed was definitely a factor in this accident," McGhee said.
