Polar Bear Splash challenges public to dive into freezing water

Special to the Review

Prescott Valley Parks and Recreation is hosting its “Polar Bear Splash” at Mountain Valley Park Jan. 7 from noon to 2 p.m (Splash at 1:45 p.m. when the public can plunge into the freezing cold swimming pool). Admission is free for the event. Recreational Leader Roy Jenkins said activities will range from snowman-building contests and ice-cream eating contests to ice block races and ice-block sitting competitions. A swimsuit competition will even take place. In addition, he said sledding behind the pool will be available, thanks to a snowmaking machine. Local sponsors will supply hot drinks as well.
