Jack Arthur Gulyas

Our beloved father and husband, Jack Gulyas, age 83, of Prescott, has passed onto his eternal home to be with the Lord. He passed away at Tucson Veterans Hospital, Nov. 22, 2005. He was born March 31, 1922, in Detroit, Mich., to Arthur and Katherine (Ferber) Gulyas, the eldest of three sons.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ward. He has a younger brother, Christopher Gulyas, who lives in California. Jack is also preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth, and stepson, Robert Householder. He is survived by his current wife, Naomi "Jean"; three daughters, Sandra Napieralski, Cheryl (Larry) Arnold, and Candice Leverett; six stepchildren, Brian Moore, Eugene (Beverly) Creek, Sharon Householder, Howard (Carolyn) Householder; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

At 16, Jack joined the Army infantry. He served proudly in WWII in General Patton's Army. He was a proud soldier who served in WWII, Korean War and during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and other medals. He was wounded in action and was one of the liberators of the Nazi concentration camp of Mauthousen and was memorialized as a liberator in the Holocaust Museum in El Paso, Texas. He was always quoting General MacArthur "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away."

For 20, years he served as a chief weather observer in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in August 1969, taught history in high school and worked as a Vocational Evaluator and was substitute teaching, until about 2003, in the Prescott Unified School District. Several of his proud accomplishments were his paintings and his published book. He wrote "Long March to Nowhere." He loved his Lord and his church and the work of their missions. He loved to sing karaoke as well. But most of all he loved his family and his country.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott. Burial with military honors will take place Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at 11 a.m., at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.

Gary L. Huff

Gary L. Huff, 53, of Chino Valley, born July 3, 1952, in Phoenix, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at his home in Chino Valley.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley.
