Chino Valley High School (CVHS) Marching Band, along with 15 other high school bands from across the state, will compete in the 3rd Annual Mile High Marching Invitational on Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at host Prescott High School’s (PHS) Bill Shepherd field. CVHS will compete at 11:30 a.m.
The public is invited to watch and cost to attend is adults, $4 and students, $2. Public parking is available in the school’s upper parking lots. Plenty of food and hot drinks will be available at the concession stands. Proceeds will go to the PHS Band Boosters to help cover the costs of the festival and help pay for band expenses.
KPPV/KQNA Radio and BLH Contracting are sponsoring the festival.
For the individual bands, it is a chance to be evaluated by professionals on their music, marching, percussion, drum majors, and auxiliary flag lines.
The awards ceremony, in which bands will be rated Superior, Excellent, Good or Fair, will begin around 3 p.m. Special awards are also given for music performance, marching, percussion, drum major, and auxiliary (color guard) performance.
