Eva Mae Temple

Eva Mae Temple was born Sept. 17, 1918, in England, Ark., and passed away May 7, 2005, in Prescott. Eva retired from the Veterans Administration and enjoyed being able to spend more time with her family.

Eva's charm and welcoming ways touched everyone who met her. Her dedication to her faith allowed this caring and giving woman to always see the best in people. Her love for her family was immeasurable. A kinder and sweeter mom, grandma, and great-grandma the world will never know. She will be missed beyond description.

Eva is survived by her husband of 67 years, Philip Ray Temple, and by her two sons, Mark Temple and his wife, Laurie, and Terry Temple. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cooper, Carson, Brian and his wife, Liz, Jason and his wife, Angela, and Brooke and her fiancŽ, Frank, as well as five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Evin, Jackson, Holden and Ella Mae. Also surviving are her brother, James Craig Dobkins, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 18, at 11 a.m., at the 1st Baptist Church in the Solid Rock Building at the corner of Union and Marina streets.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pinecrest Adult Care Home, 1106 Dixon Dr., Prescott, AZ 86303.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.

Joie Scheve

Joie Scheve was born April 2, 1917, in Ozark, Ark., to Edgar and Louise Williams. She was one of 9 children. Joie and her family spent most of her childhood in the Muldrow and Idabel, Okla., areas.

Joie spent most of her life as a beautician. She and her sister enjoyed working with many different clients both in Oklahoma and Texas. When Joie moved to Cleveland, Ohio, she taught at the local beauty school until the mid 1960's, when she retired from the business.

Her life was filled with many things. She greatly enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and raising her miniature poodles. She married Howard Scheve in 1950. They lived in Ohio and Oklahoma prior to moving to Arizona in the late 1980's. She and Howard enjoyed their 40-plus years together until Howard passed on in 1991. She and Howard moved to Prescott Valley in 1990 to be near her son John Powell and family. She also had a nephew, Dairll and family who moved to Prescott Valley shortly after she and Howard moved to the area.

Joie was predeceased in death by her parents, 8 brothers and sisters, husband Howard Scheve and sons Henry Howard and John Edward Powell. She is survived by her 2 granddaughters: Julie Pelle of Phoenix and Yvonne Powell of Prescott, 4 great-grandchildren: Peyton September, Lexi Pelle, and Bethany and Jonathan Lehmann; daughter-in-law, Billie Powell of Prescott; nephews: Dairll Webster of Prescott Valley and Winifred (Gene) Williams of Salado, Texas, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Sunrise Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11. She was laid to rest at Heritage Memorial Park in a private service on Thursday, May 12.
